On the Rocks... Again???

"On the rocks" is an interesting expression, that has many connotations that illustrate many situations. In this particular case, it can denote that the subject is physically on the rocks, while at the same time, connote that the subject is experiencing difficulty.

"Up the river without a paddle" was another expression in my youth, that indicated someone was in a world of hurt. Again another expression that can denote and connote different meanings. The point is that at every crossroad in life we are all caught up in events. These events are what make up our life, our personal challenges, lessons, otherwise known as "karma"

We all begin life this way, having a blank disk inserted in the machine. This disk is the home of acquired knowledge, what we would gain from life. Everything of acquired conscience, knowledge, belief, is housed in this apparatus. It develops into our culture, allowing us to manifest on the physical plane for a brief time.

What we receive from life becomes a food of impressions, these impressions are designed to bring us full circle with the possibility of another life within a life. Unfortunately, most of us do not make it this far, we insist on having our "piece of the pie", another connoting denoting expression, which actually leads to nothing real.

We then sacrifice the possibility of raising our level of being, accepting instead "the material" of fame, fortune and domestic power. Like all things material, these goals eventually return back to the earth from whence they came. The human machine then becomes feeble and decays over time, back to the point of its beginning. At death (a doorway) the slate (mind) is wiped clean and the whole process begins again.

This is known in the work as recurrence, where one becomes a loop in time. We were not created for this purpose alone, we were given the power of choice. We could evolve upscale, attracting another life and the many impressions that would bring.

The enneagram to the left is a visual aid to begin the understanding, of time and recurrence. To think differently is actually the breath of freedom. Think how many times we "inspire and expire".

Although we all aspire to glory, remember that if we were in charge of our own breathing, given our present state of consciousness, I'm afraid we would not live very long.

The Enneagram shows us that all life, in fact every manifestation has a circular direction and flow. Your future is in your past and your past is in your future.

By this I mean that what happens on Monday affects Wednesday and vice versa. Time is a circle with an irregular movement, that allows for the future to influence the past, according to the laws of the octave.

At our present level we have a very difficult time seeing this because we believe that time is linear and only two dimensional. If you could see ahead to Wednesday from Monday, then you would see that during the day on Monday, something would happen either influenced by, or influencing Wednesday. Then what takes place on Wednesday affects the past on Tuesday and so on.

This begins to show that time is not quite what we think it is. Your life is arranged like this also. Your past is in your future and your future is in your past. If a man changes nothing he is destined to live again in the same time period under the same conditions and with the same relationships.

There is also the idea of "Karma Yoga", and by this I mean role reversal. An example of this goes like this, If you were selfish and hurt someone and did not change it through recognition and acceptance of your selfishness. Then it is possible you will change places and become the object of someone else's cruelty. We have to see both sides of the pendulum, which gives us ascending and descending lives. In other words, if you are King of the castle in one life, you may have to be the castle servant in another run through...

"Your being attracts the events in your life... If you want to change those events, you must change your being..."

"What you see in the mirror is not you... In fact, it would be better if you saw nothing at all" ~ Maurice Nicoll
