The idea of spiritual ascension and descension, can only be discussed in a philosophical way. There is really no empirical scientific data to suggest otherwise...
That being said, the idea itself is firmly rooted in many theosophical, mystical, spiritual and religious teachings. So it becomes a matter of Faith, Hope, Love, that
motivates one to explore further, those "incarnate" non sensual possibilities".
I say beyond sensual to further clarify, that what the human mind considers provable by human senses alone, is
considered to be the only truth, according to the majority of world class scientific minds.
This includes devices that measure microscopical organisms, that were beyond our
ability to observe until recently.
So actually what we have here is a failure to communicate, creating a division between two world views.
For sake of argument, let us classify these two world views as, Exoteric, that of Science and technology, the other,
Esoteric, belief beyond the senses, the inner mind.
Both are correct in a certain sense of the word, both can exist in the same reality. The only thing that separates them commonly, is the manifestation of the
Human Ego.
This Ego which we all possess, is what causes conflict between them, that ever present need to be right at all costs, which may even include fabrication.
There is evidence on both sides of the argument of this reasoning, one can easily spot it if one looks a little deeper.
But actually,
exoteric thought exists simultaneously with esoteric thought, much like the yin vs yang idea. One is outside and the other inside.
The dimension of manifestation may be the same, but the levels of scale are completely different. Exoteric thoughts feelings and sensations, exist in time,
whereas, esoteric thoughts feelings and sensations exist outside time, in eternity if you like. The exoteric body (first body) resides in that space between birth
and death, finite yet repetitive, powerful yet feeble. The esoteric body (second body and beyond) exists before the manifestation of the physical body,
continuing after the death of the physical body.
So we have a double, one against the other, as are all things in nature. Active vs Passive
,Yin vs Yang, Male vs Female, all different, all unique, joined by threads of inconceivable strength, while existing in the same yet separated reality.
"Never the twain shall meet"... is the herald, yet the destiny of all things created, is paramount on that meeting and unification of both.
So the battle for supremacy continues and the science of the west is at odds with the wisdom of the east, each vying for top spot.
It need not be this way, a neutralizing force can if wanted, marry the two and create a third triad of more powerful proportion. They both
have a right to exist, they both have a special "intelligence" directed towards their realms of specialty.
There are ascending and descending lives, that is for sure. One need only look at "Human" tragedy and triumph",
to see this existing in the exoteric world, what exists exoterically, also exists esoterically...
The esoteric psychological message, behind the parable of the "Prodigal Son", is this journey home...
